Please have sufficient fuel at the start of rideouts so that  fuel stops can be kept to a minimum.  Even if the destination is only a short distance away your tank should be full (not just a bit over half) - the route taken will often not be direct.

A reminder about rideouts if the weather is a bit suspect.  "On future ride outs if the weather is not looking too good please telephone one of the reps to check if itís still on before meeting up.  It should be pretty obvious anyway but please check first, you donít want to be turning up for nothing.  It would only ever be the case in the event of bad weather.  Thank you. Trev"

The calendar of rideouts for 2018 will start in April.  Inpromptu rideouts will depart from Boreham services on Sundays at 10:30 until March 4 when it returns to 10:00.   At the end of the rideout calander period, as the mornings become darker inpromptu rideouts revert to  10:30 at Boreham Services from December 2 until March 3, 2019.

We also have some mid week rides for those that can make it, originally deemed the Retired Riders Group, quickly re named the Retarded Riders group.  Nothing is set in stone and there is no planned ride out week on week, just as the fancy takes us and weather of course. Let us know if you are interested so we can keep you informed.

June    29th          Alan Ferry funeral in Colchester

With great sadness I have to inform you that one of our longest serving members Alan Ferry has died. Many of you will know Alan, a lovely man who was once our centre rep. His funeral is on the 29th June at Weeley crematorium, 11.00 am.  The funeral cortege will be leaving Alanís house in Colchester, as yet details are not finalised, probably around 10ish.  There will be a police escort of some kind specifically to block roundabouts, junctions and lights, so if you intend going by bike we need to know numbers. If there are more than ten bikes they will go on ahead to arrive, park, helmets off, and hopefully form a reception line for the cortege when it arrives, if there are less than ten bikes then they will follow behind the hearse. It is therefore very important to know numbers if you intend going by bike. So please let me know [my email address is trevorlathrope@gmail.com] or phone/text me on 07941 072174 or Roger Went on 07547 898363, you can of cause go directly to the crematorium.  When the details are known Roger will tell me along with the address and I will forward them on.  Please do respond - donít just turn up, the funeral directors are adamant about this, too many in the procession it will become very difficult.

This is a format for a display notice for bikes at events such as the bike show at the Langford Museum of Power, Charsfield Fete, and Southwold.

It's available as a Microsoft Word document (click on the link below) and, if you have Word, it's easy to edit from the details shown for my bike to cover your bike.  Technical details for most of our bikes are on the Star Motorcycles US Web site at http://www.starmotorcycles.com/star/products/lifestylehome/home.aspx  Please do not change the pictures, header text, fonts, or layout of the page - we are looking for a "standard" page with brief details in Arial 14 point black bold.  Colour printing and lamination will be required; I have both and can do this for you if required; just e-mail your page to bob.owen96@btinternet.com.  Note that this is for VSOC qualifying bikes only.
